Creativity within Constraints – Making a mark without breaking the rules
Thursday October 10, 2024 3:00pm - 4:30pm CDT
In today’s fast-paced and highly regulated advertising landscape, how do creative professionals balance creative innovation with the strict brand guidelines of large national clients?

This panel discussion brings together industry professionals from New Honor Society and Phoenix Creative—two St. Louis agencies that have extensive experience working with well-established brand standards for nationally and internationally recognized brands. They will share their insights on how to push creative boundaries while adhering to the rules, (and knowing when to break the rules), offering practical advice and real-world examples of how to excel within these constraints.

Recent graduates in graphic design, art, animation, account management, marketing, and writing will gain valuable perspectives on the importance of creativity within the parameters of brand guidelines. This session is designed to inspire and equip the next generation of creative professionals to make their unique mark in the industry while upholding the integrity of the brands they represent.

David Dolak,
Partner, Chief Creative OfficerAs a fine artist and graphic designer, David Dolak welcomes any opportunity to think and create, whether it’s in his studio or with the talented team at Phoenix Creative. As Partner and Chief Creative Officer, he finds nothing more rewarding than helping create singular creative solutions that accomplish his clients’ goals. David has put his talent for advertising and passion for design to work for national accounts including Anheuser-Busch In-Bev, Chick-fil-A, SeaWorld, and Busch Gardens. If you keep an eye out, you might catch David’s work, not just on billboards and print ads, but in local fine-art galleries as well.

Kate Crawford, Associate Creative Director
From a very young age I knew I would be an artist and by the time I was eight years old I decided graphic design would be my career. I wanted to make art that impacted people’s daily lives outside of the traditional way most people view art. The further down this path I went I realized how much larger this concept was then I originally thought. Now, 10 years into my dream job, as an Associate Creative Director I help lead other designers to not only make beautiful and impactful art but how to apply it to design in a way that not only is functional but really looks at the bigger picture. As artists it’s easy to get lost in making of the art itself and often forget how it functions on a deeper level not only for our clients but for our consumers.

Adam Reichmann, VP, Senior Creative Director
With a career in advertising and public relations spanning over twenty years, Adam brings a wealth of experience to crafting impactful branding, content creation, and creative problem-solving. Working with clients from Jack Daniels and Naturalizer to AT&T and Bayer Agricultural Sciences, he possesses a deep understanding of brand building and business strategy. Adam applies this knowledge—along with his own expertise in writing—to direct a talented team of copywriters, art directors, and motion designers as they bring the many facets of ZYN’s incredible story to life.
